Sơn La Arabica
As the world's largest producer of Robusta, Vietnam is not generally known for their specialty Arabica. Here at Chau Coffee, we're trying to highlight the farmers, cooperatives, and producers in Vietnam that are changing the narrative on the quality of coffee that comes from Vietnam.
This coffee was cultivated and produced in Sơn La, is in northwestern Vietnam, located 700-1,200 meters above sea level. Sơn La is known for their Arabica cultivation, particularly the Catimor varietal, which thrives in this region without requiring irrigation, allowing for sustainable farming practices that minimize water waste.
The Vietnamese specialty coffee cooperative that produced this coffee is committed to sustainability, social upliftment, and gender equality - The manager, Ngoc Anh Sprunker, is also the Vietnam chapter's chairperson of the International Woman Coffee Association (IWCA).
This coffee shines in a pour-over where it has delicate floral notes, with hints of crisp apple and pineapple and milk chocolate undertones.
